The Cabin Building Process with KM Building

Building your dream cabin is an exciting journey! Here’s a step-by-step guide to how we bring your vision to life:

Step 1: Designing Your Cabin

We begin by checking the building regulations for your plot. You can either choose one of our existing models or create a unique design. This phase takes from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how many design iterations are necessary.

Step 2: Applying for a Building Permit

Once the design is ready, you apply for the building permit. This process typically takes between 4 and 12 weeks, depending on the local municipality’s regulations.

Step 3: Cabin Production

Once the permit is approved, production of your cabin begins, which takes around 8 weeks. While the cabin is being built in our factory, groundworks and concrete slab preparation happen at the building site. Throughout production, we send you regular photo updates, so you can follow the process closely.

Step 4: Delivery

Once your cabin is completed, it’s loaded for delivery on a Friday and ready for assembly at the site by Monday.

Step 5: Assembly of Log Shell or Timber Frame

The assembly of the log shell or timber frame elements typically takes around 1 week. You’ll begin to see your cabin take shape very quickly at this stage.

Step 6: Exterior Finishing

Next, we move to the roof construction, window and door installation, and building the terrace. The exterior work is completed in about 3-5 weeks, and you’ll see significant progress as your cabin truly comes to life.

Step 7: Interior Finishing

With the exterior complete, we shift to the interior. Electricians, plumbers, and carpenters work together to finish the interior in about 4-6 weeks, taking care of all the fine details to make your cabin feel like home.

Step 8: Handing Over

Now it’s time for the final step—handing over the cabin! At this stage, you can bring in the kitchen and finalize any paperwork with local authorities. Your cabin is now ready for you to enjoy.

Step 9: Post-Completion Care

We don’t just leave after the handover. During the first 5 years, we visit twice in the first year and once per year after that to check on the cabin and address any minor issues caused by log settling or shrinking.
